ABOUT ME
MISSON
I design content that enables beneficial product experiences.
PHILOSOPHY
When we make information clear, useful, and consistent for the most possible receivers, the overall product experience becomes easier, more enjoyable, and more supportive. Task completion increases, customer service load decreases, and everyone benefits.
BIO
I started my content career in 2008. I worked at a busy digital agency and noticed that content was consistently being added to websites and apps as an afterthought. As a lifelong writer and systems thinker, I knew we could do better.
My earliest work focused on content for specific product development projects. I still truly enjoy the detailed work of a good content audit, mapping out the complexity of user journeys, or finding just the right words for an interface component, but my current passion and expertise is design systems.
Design systems in the product world have traditionally tended to describe mostly visual aspects. But in a world where the average content designer covers entire product areas, everyone from product designers to engineers ends up writing content. Guidance on written style, grammar and mechanics, information design, word choice, and accessibility supports them toward doing so with quality and consistency.
In the rest of my time I obsess over my beloved 2020 Volkswagen GTI (manual transmission, of course) and music. I've been tightly involved in the dance music world for many years, both as an avid dancer and an event planner and producer. I also teach yoga and barre classes and I love the strength and peace these practices bring to my life. I live with my partner Will, a three-footed cat named Cora, and Atari the rat terrier in Seattle, WA.
